Bridgestone is testing eight-inch-diameter airless tires for carts and forklifts. This airless concept tire is a more environmentally friendly and more efficient alternative to conventional tires. This tire is actually a band of rubber tread around of web of thermoplastic spokes, stiff to avoid vibration and energy waste, yet soft enough to provide a comfortable ride; spokes spread out from the central aluminum wheel. The company is developing a test version for passenger car tires.
