Visual Recognition To Know What You Feel
According to the recently filed patent Samsung is working on the Action Unit (AU) Detector. Facial Action Coding System (FACS) utilizing the Action Units, is nothing but a coding system that distinguishes emotions of anger, fear, sadness, happiness, surprise, and disgust based on the contractions of a userâs facial muscles. The researchers Sudha Velusamy, Hariprasad Kannan, Balasubramanian Anand and Anshul Sharma who were working on Samsung’s emotion recognition technology combined 30 such units together forming a string, each string being mapped to a mentioned human emotion. The hardware mentioned to be used for the system is a memory to store instructions and a processor to evaluate and match the Action Units.
