Virtual Smartphone Tickets Tested In NYC

New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority is now testing a smartphone based ticketing system with QR code on the screen that the conductor can scan. The first testers are MTA employees riding on the Metro North rail network, which until now utilizes printed paper tickets. It is not known if the Subway will be eventually trying this system.
