A team from The Sichuan University has designed the Lumigrids project, also called a “road bump reader”. The Lumigrid LED light allows bicycle riders to instantly assess, if there is a deformity in the road in front of them and adjust their riding speed and steering accordingly. The Lumigrids is located at the front of the handlebars on the bike and projects a neon grid on the path directly in front of the rider. On a flat road, the grid will remain smooth and perfectly formed. The Lumigrids should not be used by rider in off road conditions, as the human eye would not be able to read the grid quickly enough to respond to uneven terrain conditions. It’s not clear at the moment, whether the Lumigrids LED Light concept will be brought to the market in the nearest future.
