The First Russian Female Android (+VIDEO)
Dmitry Itskov, the founder of the 2045 Initiative movement (known before as Russia 2045), is sure that by 2045 there will be ways to transplant our minds into computers and android bodies. After he had presented the first realistic Russian android head, built and programmed by Moscow-based Neurobotics, it was turned into the first Russian female android, Alissa. Her face might appear realistic at first, yet unlike other android heads, which can have more than 30 points of articulation, Alissa has only eight. Though it seems to be enough to add movement to its eyes and mouth controlled with a standard game pad. The head is set on a mannequin, which stands on a wheel base for mobility. Alissa features some basic AI, providing simple question and answer type interactions due to the company’s conversational software, which synchronizes the mouth movements to the words spoken by its speech synthesizer. The operator uses Skype to communicate with the outside world in telepresence mode. The video feed in Alissa’s eyeballs is ensured by means of the cameras, while the operator uses a headset.
