SUGAR stands for Subsonic Ultra Green Aircraft Research. This research puts high priority on ecological value of the fuel, its power efficiency and reduction of carbon emission. The concept airplane by Boeing is designed to utilize the power of cryogenic liquefied natural gas (LNG), which will improve fuel efficiency by enormous 64 percent. Additionally, the aircraft design is to be changed to acquire low-drag wings hybrid engines to power SUGAR Freeze with fuel cell technology.
