The information we could store for future generations is enormous, still the probability of loosing it one day is very high. So Hitachi developed a special device, a glass disk, that features excellent durability in extreme conditions: it is waterproof, fireproof, resistant to chemicals, and remains unaffected by radio waves. The resilient quartz glass measures 2cm square and is just 2mm thick; it stores data by creating a series of dots inside the thin sheet of glass, which can be read with a microscope. The information stored on it will be readable till the day there is a computer, that can be programmed to understand it.
